DRAPER — Police found two people dead in the master bedroom of their home Thursday.

The deaths of Daniel H. Richards and Lynn A. Richards are being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide, Draper Police Sgt. Gerald Allred said. Lynn Richards had been shot several times, and Daniel Richards had been shot once.

The bodies were discovered after arriving construction workers installing flooring in the house became concerned when there was no response from the homeowners Thursday morning, Allred said. The workers called police to the home at 14284 S. Rocky Mouth Lane (955 East).

Police were called to the home Wednesday night after neighbors called about the couple's fighting. When police arrived, no one answered the door and police could not hear any commotion and left, Allred said.

Police had not been called to the home before, Allred said.

While the shootings are being investigated as a domestic violence murder-suicide, officials say they haven't ruled out the possibility that something else may have happened and are continuing to investigate.

Allred said the loss of life in such situation is tragic and often can be prevented. Police departments have many ways to help troubled couples, he said.
