A Workplace Learning and Performance Conference will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Miller Business Resource at the Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus, 9750 S. 300 West.

The event is hosted by the American Society for Training and Development Utah Chapter, in partnership with Corporate Training at the Miller center. It is designed to teach business decisionmakers how to improve operational performance through employee development.

The conference's opening session features Jeff Thredgold, president of Thredgold Economic Associates and economic consultant to Zions Bank, discussing the economic outlook for 2008 and the impact on workplace learning and performance. The keynote address highlights best practices to engage and retain employees and will be presented by Derrick Barton of Denver's Center for Talent Retention.
