Much has been made in the past few days about President Bush's veto of the SCHIP bill. Sen. Orrin Hatch says the president just "doesn't understand." Sen. Hatch doesn't understand that "We the People" are getting sick and tired of welfare entitlement programs and paying for everyone else. The good senator doesn't have a clue anymore when it comes to spending taxpayers money. What's a few billion here and a few billion there?

When I checked into this legislation, I found that I would qualify for it even though I have a good health insurance plan through my employer. I could cancel my children, including my son at BYU, from my insurance and enroll them in SCHIP and have the taxpayers pay for it.

They say $35 billion over five years? As with any government entitlement program, $35 billion would be low.
