Choice? Parents have a choice and always have had a choice. Private schools and tutoring have always been available. Education for all citizens, including those physically or mentally challenged, has not always been available.

The state should not run a dual education program, and public tax money and any surplus in the General Funds should not subsidize private schools. Parents concerned about public schools can help by becoming a volunteer, attending board meetings, encouraging appreciation for and a love of learning. They can also teach their children to be polite, respect authority and follow rules.
