The Utah Wildlife Resources Division is accepting proposals from people interested in operating winter sleigh rides and related activities at Hardware Ranch Wildlife Management Area in Cache County.

The concessionaire must provide his or her own horse and equipment for sleigh rides on the working ranch operated by the wildlife agency to feed elk and reduce damage to agricultural property in the northern Utah county. The state discontinued the sleigh rides two years ago, and the 1988 Legislature requested privatization of the sleigh-ride program.

The division said it will maintain the elk herd, elk feeding, corral and barn facilities and operate the ranch's visitor center.
