Maryland Public Television has announced it will co-produce a new four-part series, "The Power Game," based on the best seller by Hedrick Smith.

"The Power Game" will give viewers an inside look at the political maneuvering in Washington by Congress, the White House staff, lobbyists and bureaucrats.Smith, a Pulitzer Prize winner and former correspondent for The New York Times, plans to interview a variety of political personalities, including President Reagan, Secretary of State George Shultz, White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater, former President Carter, former House speaker Thomas O'Neill and others.

The series will air over four weeks in early 1989 on most PBS stations.
