The Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommitte approved the admisnistration's request Tuesday for $158.8 million in water-project money for Utah. The subcommittee also agreed to a request by Sen. Jake Garn, R-Utah, supporting an increase in the authority level for the Central Utah Project from $2.1 to $2.5billion.

Of the money approved Tuesday, $151 million will go for CUP and $7.8 million to the Little Dell project in Salt Lake County.Garn said he will press for a $400 million increase in CUP authorization and a private bond issue to pay for irrigation and drainage features of the project when he gtoes before the Senate Water and Power subcommittee.
