Utahns and Utah visitors - including mayors from throughout the United States - are being invited to a special free Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert at 7:30 p.m. June 10 in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.
The choir is about to embark on a Pacific tour that will take it to Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. Works to be performed on the tour will be featured in the Tabernacle concert.A special invitation has been extended to mayors and their representatives who will be in Salt Lake City for meetings of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The free program will include a performance of Robert Cundick's "Unconquerable," with a poem by Edward Hart, composed especially for the Pacific Rim tour. Other featured works are by Mendelssohn, Copland, Grieg, Humperdinck, Wagner, Peeters and Luboff.
Jerold Ottley will conduct, with Cundick and John Longhurst at the keyboards and with incidental accompaniments by the Brigham Young University Brass Ensemble.
