Owen Findley Bloomfield, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband and beloved friend, passed from this mortality on October 22, 1998, after a full life of giving, sharing, and sacrifice.
Born September 6, 1908, in Ramah, NM, to Alexander F. and Nina Bond Bloomfield. Owen loved God's creations and knew how to cultivate the earth. Having received his education at Brigham Young University, he served his country as an agriculture expert with the United States Indian Service for 32 years, at the Colorado River and San Carlos Indian Reservations. After retirement, Owen moved to Bountiful, Utah, with his beloved wife, Mildred, in 1976.Owen married Mildred Maughan on October 7, 1935, in the Salt Lake Temple. Their daughter, Beverly (wife of James F. Maher Jr.), has been the greatest joy of their lives. Numerous posterity now call him father and friend, and gratefully look to him as our great example (six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren).
Owen loved his religion and endeavored to faithfully serve God. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission. Later service included Branch President (13 years), Bishop's Counselor (11 years), as well as other teaching and stake callings. Owen devoted his retirement years searching his family history and doing temple work.
The family wishes to thank friends, family, and medical personnel for their support during Owen's illness. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested contributions be made to the General Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
