A man with a knife intent on buying cocaine attacked another man Tuesday, stabbing him in the face and abdomen.
William Thomas, 39, was attacked at 1 p.m. on 500 South near 340 West, where the assailant approached him and asked to buy cocaine, Salt Lake Police Lt. Arthur Healey said."(Thomas) was just walking down the street minding his own business when this guy approached him and asked for cocaine," Healey said.
Thomas told the man he didn't sell or have the drug. The assailant then pulled out a knife and stabbed Thomas twice, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
A passer-by called police, but the assailant was gone when officers arrived. The assailant was in his mid-20s, had brown kinky hair and was wearing a backpack, Healey said. Officers didn't make any arrests.
