Maureen Proctor, an author and a writer for the program, "The Spoken Word," will be the keynote speaker for the Daughters of Utah Pioneers international convention Friday, Oct. 2, in Salt Lake City.

The program at Little America Hotel also will feature a special tribute to Utah's First Lady Jackie Leavitt. Ann Leavitt, mother of of Gov. Mike Leavitt, also will be honored at the gathering, which begins with a business and general session at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Book sales will begin at 8 a.m.Mary A. Johnson, international president, will preside. Donna Phippen, first vice president, is chairman of the convention. More than 900 DUP members are expected to attend.
