A black lawyer will defend a member of the Ku Klux Klan who faces felony charges for burning a cross at a white supremacist rally.

David Baugh of Richmond, a member of the American Civil Liberties Union's Virginia board of directors, is representing Barry Black at his Oct. 23 trial.Black, a white man from Johnstown, Pa., was arrested Aug. 22 at the end of a KKK rally on private property with the landowner's consent, ACLU state director Kent Willis said. Black was charged with burning a cross in a public place, in Virginia a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
