Attorney Kim R. Wilson announces the winning bid for Movie Buffs' inventory following a public auction Monday. BK Properties Inc., the video chain's leading secured creditor, was the top bidder at $500,000. The owners of Movie Buffs recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy but later dropped the petition, saying they would handle the debts without resorting to bankruptcy. BK Properties hasn't decided whether to keep the merchandise or sell it to a third party to recover the money it loaned Movie Buffs. Not included in the sale were approximately 42,000 videos that are the object of a 3rd District Court lawsuit. Rentrak Corp. said in the lawsuit that it leased the videos to Movie Buffs and now wants them back. A judge postponed the sale of the videos while an audit is conducted.
