A Salt Lake man died Tuesday at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, hours after being pulled unconscious from a swimming pool at Bozeman Hot Springs and Spa, Gallatin County Coroner Rob Myers said.
Dead is:Henry Schowengerdt, 68.
He was pulled from the bottom of the pool at the Four Corners business Monday afternoon and died about 7 a.m. Tuesday, Myers said.
An autopsy showed drowning as cause of death, but Schowengerdt's Parkinson's disease likely contributed to it, Myers said.
Parkinson's disease is a slowly progressing, degenerative disorder of the nervous system.
Schowengerdt was alone in the deep end of the indoor pool when he slipped under the water, unnoticed for a number of minutes by others in the area, officials said.
An employee, who is also an emergency medical technician, gave Schowengerdt cardiopulmonary resuscitation until ambulance workers arrived.
Schowengerdt is a retired president of Hercules Aerospace Division in western Salt Lake County.
