If you're interested in sampling southern Utah's slick-rock, experiencing a moonlit night on snowshoes or climbing walls of rock, Weber State University's Wilderness Recreation Center may have just the right workshop or trip for you.

The center's current class and activity schedule is already under way and continues through December.Workshops on a range of topics, from bicycle maintenance (including classes for women) and map and compass reading to kayaking, skiing and rock climbing cost from $3 to $12. Excursions to such locations as Antelope Island State Park and Arches National Park range from $40 to $65.

The Wilderness Recreation Center "provides a convenient and inexpensive way for people to experience Utah's scenic outdoors," said Mike Harvey, assistant director of campus recreation. "Instruction, basic equipment, transportation, insurance and some meals are included in the cost of our trips and workshops," he said, and activities are geared toward the novice.
