PageNet, a Dallas-based firm said to be the largest paging carrier in the United States, is expected to announce Friday that it will open a new customer service center in Salt Lake County that will eventually create up to 600 new jobs.
The company will consolidate several service centers it now operates in several states into 80,000 square feet of space it is leasing in the Lake Pointe Corporate Center in the Decker Lake area.A spokeswoman said PageNet has some 10 million subscribers nationwide who use the company's paging services.
At the new center, representatives will field calls from customers with such questions as why a page didn't go through, why their pager isn't working, and with queries on their monthly bill.
The spokeswoman said the Salt Lake area was chosen for its "talented work force, high level of education and quality of life."
She said the plan is to transition existing offices into the new center over several months, increasing the number of employees over time.
