Utahna Smith Hansen, a precious wife, mother and friend, died September 29, 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Utahna was born March 10, 1917, in Richfield, Utah to Clarence and Emma Hansen Smith. Her birth mother died during her infancy. Her new mother was Ida Smith. She had three sisters, Monnie Erlewine, Julia Brugger, and Coral Buchanan; two brothers, James Black and Clarence Smith Jr. Coral and Clarence Jr. preceded her in death.She grew up in Richfield where she met Richard C. Hansen. They were married November 25, 1939. They lived in Richfield, Salina, Denver and Salt Lake City. Their marriage resulted in four happy and successful children, Anne, Jane, Mary and Paul.

Utahna had many interesting jobs and responsibilities during her lifetime. She was a key person in the family business, Hansen Engineering, for many years. Her most recent employment was with the Granite School District.

Utahna was an incredibly kind and thoughtful person. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She leaves behind many friends and loved ones. She was the beloved nanny to 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 3, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary Chapel, 50 So. 100 West in Richfield, where friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah.
