A number of events are scheduled during October to commemorate the founding of the United Nations and the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Gov. Mike Leavitt will sign a proclamation at 2:15 p.m. Thursday in Room 210 at the Capitol. The proclamation will declare Saturday, Oct. 24, as United Nations Day.A Salt March commemorating the birthday of former India leader Mohandus Gandhi will be held Friday, Oct. 2. A Utah Symphony concert is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 24. And law professor Edwin B. Firmage will discuss the declaration during a dinner meeting Tuesday, Oct. 27.
