After waging a courageous battle against cancer, Andy went to live with his Father in Heaven on September 27, 1998.
He was born in Rigby, Idaho to Francis Alma and Marie Jakeman Anderson on February 3, 1926. He joined the United States Navy, and served three years during World War II. He later joined the Army, where he also served for three years.Andy married Ellen Hope on April 12, 1950, and raised five sons: Lynn (Jeanne), Nick (Marsha), Kim (Kathie), Daren (Irene), and Cory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, and his wife, Ellen.
Loving to dance, Andy joined a singles square dance club where he met and later married on April 15, 1989, his favorite partner, Edith Tucker. He then added to his family a daughter, Ginger (Tom) Haney, and two sons, Robert (Sue) and Charles Winder.
He served as High Priest Group Secretary from 1989 until the onset of his disease. Dad will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He knew pure enjoyment when he was with his family. He loved camping, fishing, and square dancing with his wife, Edith. He always saw the good in people, never saying an unkind word about anyone. He was a loving and generous man who taught us all the true meaning of courage.
He is survived by his wife, sons and daughter and their respective companions, four brothers and three sisters, 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Hunter West Stake Center, 7035 West 3605 South. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
