Work on biomolecular technologies by a professor of pharmacology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has been approved as a new Utah Centers of Excellence Program. Tore Straume, a research professor of pharmacology in the Division of Radiobiology, will receive funding from the Utah State Division of Business and Economic Development for the Center for Biomolecular Technologies.

Straume joined the U. faculty last year after working as a biophysicist for 20 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He focused primarily on technology development with applications in health and environmental studies.The center will be housed in the radiobiology division.
