Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Doris Ileen Dunn Shampton, age 74, passed peacefully from this earthly existence on Sunday, September 27, 1998 of heart failure. She endured many health problems over the years with the grace and strength which will forever be an example to all who knew her.
Mother was born on July 23, 1924 in Salt Lake City to Sanford Thomas and Elizabeth Jaggers Dunn who both preceded her in death and waited with open arms to greet her. She attended Granite High School and then married her eternal sweetheart, Joseph George Shampton, July 17, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in various positions throughout her life. In her later years, she was a faithful visiting teacher. She worked for Mountain Bell for many years until her retirement. Her crowning achievement was her posterity.
Mother is survived by her husband, Joe; their two daughters and one son and their spouses: Carol (Robert) Vincent, Vernal; Janice (Leo) Marquez, Dallas, Texas; Michael (Marianne) Shampton, Salt Lake City. She is also survived by her "Gifts from Heaven," her 14 grandchildren and their spouses. The final "jewels in her crown" were her "special little angels," her 12 great-grandchildren. Mother will now be the first to hold her new-great-grandchildren while they await their turn to come to this earth.
She was preceded in death by her brother.
