Louis Gene Close, Sr., age 62, passed away at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday, September 14, 1998, surrounded by his family.
Born February 10, 1936, in Provo, Utah to Melvin D. Close, Sr. and Hope Coleman. He married Patricia A. Bonzo March 21, 1959, in Cedar City, Utah. Gene graduated from Las Vegas High School. He attended the College of Southern Utah and the University of Utah. He graduated from Keeler's Polygraph School, Chicago, Illinois.He worked for the Utah County Sheriff and the Clark County Nevada Sheriff's Departments. He served as an enforcement agent for the Nevada Gaming Control Board. He was a licensed private investigator, as well as a small business owner. Gene was a member of the LDS Church, Royal Crest Ward .
He is survived by his wife; and three children and their spouses: Gene Close, Jr. (Lucy); Gregory M.; and Cynthia "Cyndee" (Steve) DeVito; all of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and the following brothers: Wayne, of Provo; Melvin D. Close, Jr., and Jack, of Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Conall Douglas DeVito.

Funeral service was held at Royal Crest Ward, 3901 Viking Circle, Las Vegas, NV, on Thursday, September 17, 1998. Interment at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV.
