Virgie Sadie Whitlock Sorensen, loving wife and mother, 74, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 27, 1998.

Born July 14, 1924 in Mayfield, Utah to Hyrum and Sadie Violet Jensen Whitlock. Married Alva E. Sorensen in Mayfield on June 28, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 30, 1965. She grew up in Mayfield, Utah, and has lived in Centerfield, Midvale, Gunnison, Salina and South Jordan. She worked in the Richfield Family History Center, and was involved in personal family history and temple work. She served as a visiting teacher, Relief Society secretary, and Guide Patrol Leader. She loved to go dancing with her husband, and loved her flowers, but her greatest love was serving her family. Virgie received a kidney transplant from her brother, DeLoy, 28 years ago.Survived by husband, Alva; children, Rolland and Louise, South Jordan; Kim and LuAnn, Fayette; Gae and Kevin Murray, North Logan; Clair and RoAnne, West Jordan; 21 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, DeLoy Whitlock, Eureka, Montana; sister, Ruth Good, Mayfield.

Funeral service Thursday, October 1, 1998, at 12 noon in the Parkway 3rd Ward Chapel, 9625 South 3400 West. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and Thursday at the church from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
