Dawna Lerene Whiting Dennis, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend passed away Friday, September 25, 1998 in Provo, Utah.

She was born September 3, 1921 in Wallsburg, Utah to William Arthur and Clara Elizabeth Parcell Whiting. While teaching school in Myton, Utah she met Syerl Robert Dennis with whom she fell in love and later married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 28, 1944. Her life was filled with compassion and service to others. Through her example many lives were touched with her kindness and love. Her smile seemed to radiate the love she had for others. Her greatest loves were her family and music. She served as a ward organist, choir director and was an accompanist for others. After her husband passed away, she served a mission for the LDS church in Kentucky. For the last few years she served in the German Name Extraction where she loved the work and the people. She also served in the Provo Temple. She will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.She was preceded in death by her husband, Syerl; stepson, Norman Floyd Dennis; brothers: Clifton, Leland and Fred, and a sister, Loa. She is survived by her daughters: Charlotte Ann Broderick (Roy), Julie Merkley (Delbert), Irene Manookin (Jim) all of Orem; by stepsons: Clayton Syerl Dennis (Arleen) of Bountiful, Kay Draper Dennis (Gayleen) of West Valley City, Gail Rodney Dennis (Shirlee) of North Salt Lake; a sister, Wanda Baymiller of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Ben Whiting of Arlington, VA and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 29, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Lakeridge North Stake Center, 450 South 100 West, Orem. Friends may call Monday evening 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stake Center and Tuesday 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
