Leona Martha Howard Andrus, age 91, passed away September 23, 1998 in Murray, Utah.
Born June 2, 1907 in Orem, Utah, daughter of Josiah and Louisa B. Park Howard. Married Henry Telford Andrus December 20, 1924 in Pocatello, Idaho; solemnized July 27, 1927 in the Logan LDS Temple; he preceded her in death in 1981. Active member of LDS Church where she served on Stake MIA and Primary Boards and Ward Relief Society Board, as MIA President and as a ward organist for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans for her children and grandchildren. Mom was a special caring person, not only with her family but others, especially teenagers. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Murray Care Center for their loving care of mother.Survived by daughters, Lorna (Lori) Walker, West Valley City; Myrna Kirchgestner, The Dalles, OR; daughter-in-law, Ramona Andrus, CA; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Coulson, Salt Lake City; Verda Watkins, Lakewood, CA. Preceded in death by parents; son, Richard Dean; daughters, Shirley Reed and Terrie Andrus; brothers, Jack Howard, Vernal Howard and Melvin J. Howard; granddaughter, Kristi Kirchgestner; grandson, Kenneth Andrus.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 3 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, California.
