Kenneth J. Oldroyd, age 55, passed away unexpectedly at home in Tooele on September 25, 1998.

He was born on April 20, 1943 in Moroni, Utah to Lee J. Oldroyd and Elizabeth Higginson Oldroyd. He was raised in Tooele, and attended local schools in the Tooele area, graduating from Tooele High School in 1961. He attended college for three years, then entered the United States Air Force, where he served for twenty-four years in the Air Force Security Agency and in finance, retiring in 1988. His Air Force service allowed him to travel widely throughout the world. He returned to Tooele and on November 19, 1988 married Karen W. Gowans of Tooele, in the Jordan River Temple. Ken loved physical fitness, travel, movies, and most of all spending time with his family, children and especially his new small grandsons. He was a perfectionist in many areas, and took great pride in his self-discipline. He currently was employed by Wheeler Machinery, in Salt Lake City.He is survived by his wife, Karen of Tooele; his sons, Kevin, Kenin, and Kurt Oldroyd; Steve Gowans (Sheila), Shannon Case, Kyle Ann Gowans and Stacey Pennell; two grandsons and two granddaughters; his mother, Elizabeth (Beth); brother, Alan (Josie); and two sisters, Linda Bridges (Steve), and Arlene Leach. Also survived by Craig and Anne Wexels, Jim and Joy Wexels, and Karma and Ken Klauber. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee J. Oldroyd, and by his mother and father-in-law, James and Helen Wexels.

Ken was a kind, decent, loving man who will be sorely missed by the family and friends he leaves behind.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Tooele City Cemetery.
