Joanne Alma "Susie" Schmidt, 56, of Salt Lake City and formerly of Ephraim and Richfield, Utah, was born December 6, 1941, in Bell, California, to Bernard and Bertha Fennema Schmidt. She passed away September 24, 1998, losing her battle with cancer.
She was a member of the LDS Church, having served a mission to the Eastern States, always active in positions of leadership. Sports and camping were her favorites.Joanne's loving, happy nature would surely let her be loved and admired by all who would come in contact and know her. Her creative talents have won her grand sweepstake ribbons at county fairs.
At the time of her death, she was employed by IHC Home Health Care, having earned her RN degree beginning at the Bryman School, finishing with Weber State College.
She is survived by her mother, Bertha Schmidt, of Salt Lake City; brothers, Bob Schmidt, of Arizona; Butch Schmidt; and David (Marilyn) Schmidt; sister, Marion Schmidt, all of Salt Lake City; best friend, Rita Cox, Richfield; three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral service will be held Monday, September 28, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Rose Park 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 800 North 1167 West, Salt Lake City, where friends may call Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and again Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. Funeral Directors, Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah.
