Utah's most family-friendly companies will be honored for their efforts in helping employees balance the demands of work and family at the first-ever Utah Employer Conference Jan. 14, 1999.

The program will recognize businesses that have demonstrated commitment and leadership in incorporating work/life programs into business strategies.All nominations for the award must be received by Oct. 1. To nominate a company, contact the Utah Office of Child Care at 526-4342, or visit its Web site at (http://dwsa.state.ut.us/OCC). The only requirement is that nominated companies must operate or be located in Utah.

The Utah Department of Workforce Services and the Office of Child Care have formed a partnership with San Francisco-based consulting organization Juxtapose to launch the annual award.

"We are looking for companies who have programs or policies addressing child care, elder care, flexible scheduling, community involvement or any other means of providing support and resources to enable their employees to realize their full potential both at work and at home," said Lynette Rasmussen, work/life specialist in the child care office.
