A Southwest jetliner made an emergency landing at the Salt Lake International Airport Friday after it was struck by lightning.

The Boeing 737 and its 116 passengers were heading to Los Angeles when it was struck, airline spokeswoman Kristie Kerr said. It took off from Salt Lake City about 11:30 a.m. and returned about 20 minutes later.The lightning bolt didn't cause any damage to the plane, Kerr said. The pilot landed as a precaution. The passengers of Flight 1020 were put on another plane for the flight to California.
