Projections that the Utah State Board of Regents calls modest show that enrollment at Utah Valley State College could double over the next 20 years.
More than 30,000 students are expected to enroll at the Orem school by 2017. The school's head count hit 18,000 this year, reaching past Weber State University in size."We moved past them last year and really moved past them this year," UVSC President Kerry Romesburg said.
But the growth spurt is coming at a cost. Students were turned away this year because of space constraints.
"We'd be at 21,000 next fall if we had space, I have no doubt about that, but we don't have the space," Romesburg said.
