A three-minute, high-speed chase in Kearns sent one woman to the hospital and two men to jail Thursday evening.
The chase began at 5400 South and Bangerter Highway at 6:50 p.m. when an officer with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's gang unit identified a car as stolen, said Lt. Mike Wardle. The three suspects in the vehicle apparently realized they had aroused suspicion and attempted to evade pursuing officers. The vehicle turned south on 4000 West, and at speeds reaching 70 mph, weaved in and out of traffic, Wardle said. At the intersection of 5950 South and 4000 West, the suspects apparently lost control of the vehicle as they tried to turn. The vehicle collided with a small truck, also with three occupants. The suspects then tried to escape on foot, police said.
Officers arrested the driver of the vehicle and one of the passengers on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and fleeing, Wardle said.
A female passenger in the truck was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital with minor injuries, Wardle said. The truck's other occupants, the driver and another female passenger, escaped injury.
