Richard Wilkins, a Brigham Young University law professor whose work to support the family was punctuated by a recent address at the United Nations, will be a featured speaker in "An Evening With Elder Merrill J. Bateman and Dr. Richard G. Wilkins."

The free event is an activity of the Salt Lake and Davis County Alumni Chapters of Brigham Young University and is scheduled Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Bountiful Regional Center, 835 N. 400 E., North Salt Lake.Wilkins' address, "International Law and the Family," was part of a plenary session at the United Nations. He used the LDS Church's "Proclamation on the Family" to influence the United Nations' written stance on the family. His presentation resulted in a pro-family foundation for participating nations. One observer remarked that the final U.N. resolution was no less a miracle than the parting of the Red Sea.

Elder Bateman, president of BYU, will discuss the importance of basing lifelong learning on the values of a Christlike life. He will discuss how BYU is meeting this challenge, the role of BYU in the mission of the LDS Church and the steps BYU is taking to remain a viable part of the church.
