A boy was critically injured when he was hit by a car after riding a bicycle out into traffic Wednesday.
The boy, 12, "darted out" in front of a car on 5445 W. New Bingham Highway (8450 South), West Jordan Police Lt. Bob Shober said. The car's driver, 51, didn't have time to stop and struck the boy, investigators believe.Paramedics took the boy by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Wednesday night. Police didn't release his name.
The West Jordan boy apparently failed to stop at a stop sign and rode into an intersection about 5:30 p.m., Shober said.
Despite the critical head injuries, the boy was able to stand up and get out of the road without help.
"He actually picked up his bike and walked off to the side," Shober said.
