A Nevada woman was injured and her husband killed, when the car they were driving drifted off the highway and rolled near Delta Wednesday afternoon.
Killed was:Harold Zimmerman, 70, Gardnerville, Nev.
Ann Zimmerman, 64, was in serious condition Thursday at Utah Valley Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said. She is suffering from severe chest injuries and is in the intensive care unit.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Dean Shields said Ann Zimmerman apparently fell asleep behind the wheel about 3:45 p.m. while eastbound on U-6 near milepost 45. The car drifted off the right shoulder, hit a delineator post, swerved left, then right and began to roll. It appears the car rolled six times, Shields said.
Harold Zimmerman was partially ejected from the car, but died instantly from severe head injuries, Shields said. Both he and his wife were wearing seatbelts, and the air bags in their 1997 Ford Explorer did deploy, he said.
