Robert Preston Brigance, Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully September 21, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born December 5, 1914 to Preston M. Brigance and Elizabeth (Bess) Brigance. Married Arlein L. Edgar, September 28, 1945 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was one of four children. Bob, as he was known, to friends and family, was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.Bob was born and raised in Ardmore, OK. He graduated from Ardmore High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. Bob worked as an Instrument Technician for AMINCO and later Baxter Travenol Laboratories. He retired gracefully in 1980. Bob always looked forward to new adventures and the journey to get there. He enjoyed the beach and deep sea fishing, boxing, dancing, reading and watching old Westerns, hamburgers and the Big Bands. Bob especially enjoyed golf and bowling, contributing to many workplace championship teams. Bob's life revolved around his immediate family and was happiest when spending time with them, including his canine buddy, Sneakers.
Survived by two loving children, Robert Jr. (Linda) and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick (Cecil); three grandsons: Jon M. Brigance, Chad M. Brigance, Shane W. Moore; and one great-granddaughter, Alexis C. Moore. Also survived by sister, Kathryn Cralle (Oklahoma City); and brother, Edwin Brigance, (Paris, TX.). Preceded in death by wife, Arlein L. Brigance; and infant brother, Charles Donald Brigance.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Bob's life on Saturday September 26, 1998 at 12 noon at First United Methodist Church, McClure Chapel, Ardmore, OK. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, OK.
