Rudolph Herman Karl Zander, Jr., beloved husand, father, grandfather, brother and friend, age 64, passed away suddenly due to an aneurysm on Tuesday, September 22, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Rudy was born on May 5, 1934 in Kings Park, Long Island, New York, to Rudolph Herman Karl and Martha Elise Rasch Zander. Following the death of his mother, he was reared by his Uncle and Aunt, Ernest and Johanna Wiemer. He married Carolyn Christensen, June 1 , 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.After graduation from high school in New York, he attended Ohio State University. Upon completion of an LDS mission in West Germany, he earned undergraduate and MBA degrees from Brigham Young University.

He was a business owner by profession.

An active member of the L.D.S. Church, he served as a member of the Tabernacle Choir and in numerous callings including high counselor and bishop.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Carolyn; one son and three daughters, Gordon (Cathy), Portland, OR; Karen (Jeff) Simpson, Salt Lake City; Kristen (Kelly) Loosli, Glendale, CA; and Heidi Zander, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren, Spencer, Christina, Paige and Abigail; a sister, Dolores (Ray) Buchanan; stepmother, Gunda Hallman.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, September 25, in the Winder Second Ward Chapel, 1361 East 4000 South. Viewing will be Thursday, September 24, from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, and from 10:45 to 11:45 prior to the services on Friday. Interment will follow services at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
