Aldon Marcell Bridges, age 91, passed away on September 20, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born December 6, 1906 in Dingle, Idaho to Charles Henry Bridges, Jr. and Mary Ellen Nate Bridges. He married Evelyn Nebeker, December 19, 1927. She preceded him in death, May, 1985.As a youth and young man, he worked on many of the farms and ranches in Bear Lake and Cokeville, potato farms around Blackfoot, and for the Forest Service. His great love was working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman and an engineer for nearly 40 years before retiring at the age of 70. He enjoyed many sports: fishing, hunting and bowling, and played both basketball and baseball for the Dingle teams.
He is survived by a son, M. Eugene Bridges and his wife, the former Zenna Mae Schmid of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Toni Lou Mallory and her husband, Darrell Mallory of Nampa, Idaho; two grandsons, six granddaughters, three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. One grandson preceded him in death in 1956.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, September 25 in the Matthew's Mortuary Chapel, Montpelier, Idaho. Friends may attend a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Dingle, Idaho Cemetery.
The family extends a special thanks to those people at Hillhaven Care Facility and the Salt Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, who have cared for him for the last five years.
