Grace Judd Doxey Allen died September 21, 1998 in Salt Lake City at the age of 94.
Born September 17, 1904 in Provo, Utah, the fourth child of Margaret Jennette Lewis and George Judd, Jr. She attended Provo and Salt Lake City schools. She attended the University of Utah where she met Floyd Samuel Doxey. They were married in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on October 6, 1927. She and Floyd moved to Portland, Oregon where they made their home and had two children. Upon Floyd's death in 1940, she moved with her two children to Los Angeles, California to be near her parents and other family members. She graduated from the Los Angeles Business College and was employed by Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Company as their medical office manager where she worked until 1952 except for one year of employment with the LDS Church Relief Society Department in Salt Lake City as a secretary in 1943-44.On August 26, 1952, Grace married Heber F. Allen from Raymond, Alberta, Canada and had a wonderful life with Heber in Canada and Arizona until his death in May 1968. She loved Hebers family and is known to them as Aunt Grace. She then moved to Utah, living in Orem and Salt Lake City.
She was been a member of the Mormon Choir of Southern California and held numerous church positions in the Sunday School and Young Women's organizations in Portland, Oregon, Los Angeles, California and Raymond, Alberta, Canada. She was an active temple worker in both the Provo and Salt Lake Temples where she served for many years.
Grace is survived by her son, Samuel George (Elaine) Doxey and her daughter, Margaret Doxey Hansen, eight grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren. Her Allen family is Marion, (Larry) Johnson, both deceased; Douglas Nalder (Rae) Allen, Margaret Allen (James) Bridge, Louise Allen (Ben, deceased) Kenney, and Katherine Allen (Joseph) Keeler, 26 grandchildren and 133 great-grandchildren.
Grace's special interests involved her family, golf, guitar, movies and enduring to the end with steadfast stamina.
Funeral services will be held Friday Sept. 25, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the 33rd LDS Ward, 500 S. 1100 E. Friends may call Friday 11:45 - 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment Ogden City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Missionary fund of your choice.
