My wife and best friend and life partner passed away quietly at home on September 18, 1998.

Born September 7, 1939, in Salt Lake City to John L. and Afton Mitchell. She married William T. Monahan on May 14, 1955, in Salt Lake City.Marlyn was a kind and loving person who relished in caring for her family. She had a warm, open attitude toward all people she met, always looking for the good in people and circumstances. Her strength of character, endurance, and wisdom will be missed. She was always there for her family and friends. A good listener willing to offer her counsel and life experience. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with her family and friends.

Survived by her husband; daughters, Cindy Monahan and Jackie Leavitt; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, John LeRoy (Jennena) Mitchell of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Lorraine (Stan) Hansen of Colorado Springs, LeJoyce (Tom) Bailey of Draper, Kathy Terrell of Sandy, and Linda Sidwell of Bountiful. Preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call for visitation Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m. in the chapel at Redwood. There will be a one-hour prior viewing on Thursday.
