Henry Eugene (Gene) Atkin, passed away peacefully on September 19, 1998.

He was born July 15, 1916 in Provo, Utah, to Henry Randolph and Erma Fletcher Atkin. He married his sweetheart, Dolores Dykes on June 25, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Howard Atkin, and sister, Beth Atkin Willis.He is survived by his wife, Dolores; sons, Tom Atkin and Gary Atkin (Marsha), both of Salt Lake City; daughter, Jeannine Chisholm (Wayne), of Central Valley, Utah; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Gene served with the U.S. Army during World War II, before graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Sperry Rand/Unisys, after more than 25 years in the Publications Division.

He had a passion for computers; electronics; playing the organ; and, above all, spending time with his wife and family. He found a special joy in playing with the little ones.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 1998 in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
