The Murray City Heritage Center will provide free dental screenings on Thursday for people older than 55 years or retired, along with a presentation on dental concerns for older adults.

The dental screenings will begin at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Center, 10 E. 6150 South, Murray. Appointments are needed and can be made at the center or by calling 264-2635. The screenings will include a general examination for signs of oral cancer, dental caries, poorly fitting dentures and gum disease.Following the screenings, the Heritage Center will host a lunch presentation by certified dental hygienist Debra Montgomery. The class will begin at 12:15 p.m. It is free of charge, and no registration is required.

Oral problems can contribute to a lack of appetite, mouth pain, swelling, gum disease and a host of other problems. With proper care, however, many of those complications can be alleviated.
