Mohamed al-Fayed is said to have bought a $1.5 million condo at New York's Essex House and may be preparing to move to Manhattan from London, says the New York Post's Neal Travis. The move, writes Travis, seemed to be inevitable once Fayed "realized that much of the British public will always hold him accountable for the death of Princess Di last summer."

The official accident report, to be released next month, probably lays the blame for the accident on the drunkenness of driver Henri Paul, employed by Fayed.
