Roelof Evert Hekking, 85, was released from his physical trials Sept. 17, 1998.
Born November 12, 1912 in Rotterdam, Holland. He and his family emigrated to the United States March of 1948. He became a proud citizen of the U.S. shortly thereafter.This is a man of courage and of faith! He
genuinely loved life.
He married Kristiena Van Komen May 8, 1935. They became eternal companions in June of 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He is survived by his wife, and their two children: Adrianus C. (Katherine) Hekking and Maria Ria H. (Michael) Lund and a brother, Anton Hekking. He leaves 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and many individuals who knew him. To know him was to love him!
He spent countless hours serving in the LDS Church through temple work and record keeping. He was ward clerk to several bishops. His greatest joy throughout life was his family.
The family-and Roel-felt great love from staff and friends at Wasatch Valley.
Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at 11:30 a.m. in the Liberty Park Ward, 445 East Harvard Ave (1100 So.). Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. on Monday, at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, and one hour prior to services at the ward.
