Investigators are trying to determine what started a fire that caused about $80,000 in damage to an apartment Saturday night.

Fire crews responded to 3850 W. Christopherson Drive (4480 South) shortly after 8:30 p.m. and found a unit in a four-plex fully engulfed in flames, said West Valley Fire Chief John Evans.Firefighters were able to hold the fire to the one unit, and the fire was brought under control within about 10 minutes. The other three apartments sustained smoke damage, Evans said.

A woman and her three children who lived in the apartment that burned were able to evacuate the building by themselves, Evans said. The woman sustained some smoke inhalation and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

There were no other injuries.
