Provo City Power will hold a public power celebration Saturday outside its offices at 300 W. 700 North.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to commemorate 58 years of existence. More than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities will sponsor similar parties nationwide."The public power celebration is an annual event that we use to remind the citizens of the importance of our community-owned, nonprofit electric utility," said Kevin Garlick, city power director.
Activities include an AirMed helicopter landing, bucket truck rides, drawings for free electricity and shade trees, power plant tours and food.
