WILL STEINBRENNER SELL? Cablevision might be willing to give George Steinbrenner a hand in running the New York Knicks, Rangers and Yankees if he sells the baseball team to the media and entertainment company, according to published reports Thursday.

Cablevision has had talks with Steinbrenner since November, when the company offered $500 million for the Yankees. The New York Post said that by some accounts, the new offer is near the $650 million mark.Three people involved with the Yankees organization, all of whom spoke to the New York Times on condition of anonymity, said Cablevision revived the negotiations about three weeks ago.

The Post also said Cablevision is considering the three-team deal for Steinbrenner, currently the Yankees' majority owner.
