The Tuesday search for an escaped Utah State Prison inmate ended in Weber County at the Big Z Motel, a little more than six hours after the man slipped through a hole in a fence at the Point of the Mountain.

At one point, bloodhounds had been tracking Ronald Allen Liptrap, an inmate out of Ogden who apparently cut a hole in a fence surrounding the minimum security Promontory Facility.Department of Corrections spokesman Jack Ford said Liptrap, 39, was discovered missing at 9:15 a.m. He was captured just after 4 p.m. at a motel on west 21st Street.

Liptrap, who was due to be paroled Dec. 1, was serving time for multiple convictions, including robbery, burglary, escape and being an "habitual" criminal.
