- Party of Five (8 p.m., Ch. 13): In the fifth season opener, Charlie isn't getting along with the mother of his unborn child; Julia heads off to college; Claudia heads off to boarding school; and Bailey worries that he's over-the-hill as he turns 20. (Season premiere)

- Late Night with Conan O'Brien Fifth Anniversary Special (9 p.m., Ch. 5): Who would have thought Conan would've lasted this long? But he has developed into a decent talk-show host (although such things are, as always, a matter of taste) and culling the best of what he does should make for an entertaining show.

- Chicago Hope (9 p.m., Ch. 2): A father can only save one of his two sons, both of whom are dying of liver failure. (Repeat)

- 20/20 (9 p.m., Ch. 4): The former "PrimeTime Live" is redubbed as another edition of "20/20" - joining the current Friday show and the upcoming Sunday installment - but Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer remain as hosts of the Wednesday-night newsmagazine.
