Francis Elbert Cleverly Pottle, age 61, died September 15, 1998 at his home in West Valley City, Utah.

Born April 5, 1937 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, son of Cluny Joseph and Matilda Beatrice Ingram Pottle. Married Ruby St. Clare Pippy September 26, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah; later sealed in Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a convert of the LDS Church. Served as the first missionary from Newfoundland, Canada and has served in many capacities through the years.Survived by wife, Ruby; daughters, Lanta (Kim) Stevens, Letona (Andy) Kindt, all of West Valley City; Lonette (Erick) Anderson, Holladay; Lorece (Terry) Riley, Lachalla Pottle, both of West Valley City; son, Farrell (Letisha) Thomas, Colorado Springs; 12 grandchildren; mother, Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Peggy Warner, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; Pauline Overdorf, PA; brothers, Cluny "Tony" Pottle, West Valley; Ches Pottle, Phoenix, Arizona; Jerry Pottle, Layton. Preceded in death by father; sister, Audrey Victoria Pottle; granddaughter, Meghan LaVon Stevens.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 noon at the West Point Ward, 5180 West 4700 South. Friends may call Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m.

Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
