Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Melva Nelson Johnson, passed away from a brain aneurysm, Monday, September 14, 1998 in the home she loved in Aurora, surrounded by her devoted family members.

She was born February 9, 1913 in Redmond, Utah, a daughter of Charles Elmer and Margaret Kate Jensen Nelson. She enjoyed growing up with her five sisters and one brother. She graduated from North Sevier High School as valedictorian. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and especially enjoyed serving on the Stake Relief Society Board and teaching the Social Relations Lesson. She served as President of the Utah Cow Belles and regional PTA President. Her special interests were watching the Utah Jazz games, BYU Football and growing beautiful flowers.She married Willard Lloyd Johnson, April 18, 1933 in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. He died April 17, 1991. Her two sons were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her children: Jerold Nelson and Billie Lou Johnson, Willard Burke and Pamela Johnson, all of Aurora; sisters: Lyal Ashman, Vergie Anderson, Lora Dee Christensen and Dawn Hafen; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister: Delora Nelson; a brother: Charles Tilman Nelson; and a great-grandson: Torey Mark Johnson.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 19, 1998 at 12 noon in the Aurora 1st L.D.S. Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the ward chapel Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 prior to the service. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
